In various environments, controlling the spread of pathogens requires exceptional hygienic routines to disinfect biologically contaminated areas. Chemicals such as quaternary ammonium compounds, chlorine, and bleach are used for routine cleaning of hospitals, hotels, health clubs, restaurants and other places of public gathering. Housekeeping staff perform manual cleaning and disinfection using these chemicals to routinely clean surfaces, furniture, and equipment throughout the rooms. However with the quick turnover rate and many hard to reach areas, numerous spaces may be overlooked or not thoroughly cleaned. UVC disinfection offers a way to significantly reduce surface pathogens in an ecologically friendly and healthy way to aid in chemical disinfecting of potentially contaminated areas. UVC treatment may be used alone or as complimentary to Chemical disinfection, depending on the level of contamination and structure of the area.

UVC disinfection significantly reduced the number of bacteria on surfaces directly or indirectly exposed to UVC to a very low number. The Disinfection with UVC light may significantly reduce environmental bacterial contamination and thereby protect the next patient housed in an isolation room.
